FLUSHING MEADOWS
, N.Y. – In just his third season, junior Michael Capozzi (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic/San Judas Tadeo) earned a pair of wins to become the first Valiant tennis player in program history to reach 100 career victories as Manhattanville dealt Baruch College its first defeat of the season, 7-2, in the Valiants' 2010-11 regular-season finale on Friday afternoon at the U.S. National Tennis Center.

With his two wins against the Bearcats, Capozzi now boasts a 51-10 (.836) singles record and a 50-16 (.758) doubles mark. Already the school's all-time singles wins leader after less than three full seasons, he also ranks second behind senior Julian Oribe (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Nuestra Senora del Sagrado Corazon) (59 wins) on the school's career doubles ledger as well.

Capozzi was one of four double-winners for Manhattanville on the afternoon. He and freshman Gabriel Pinto (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Internacional SEK-Ecuador) earned the Valiants' first point and the junior's 100th career victory with an 8-2 win at first doubles against Stephan Muller and Bryan Adler, and Capozzi capped off his day with a hard-fought 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) win over Christopher Jenkins at first singles for career win #101.

Pinto, senior Chris Lin (White Plains, N.Y./Eastchester) and sophomore Andres Rivera also won a pair of matches each for the Valiants. After teaming up with Capozzi for a doubles win, Pinto made quick work of Adler at fourth singles, winning by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Rivera and Lin started their day with an 8-2 third-doubles win over Alaiksei Misitau and Damon Ye before defeating the pair individually in singles play; Rivera downed Misitau, 6-4, 6-3, at fifth singles, while Lin took down Ye at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-2.

The Valiants earned their seventh point of the day when Muller retired before his second-singles matchup with junior Dean Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y./Saunders).

Manhattanville (9-4, 4-1 Freedom) will commence postseason play on Tuesday, as the second-seeded Valiants host third-seeded Eastern University in the semifinal round of the Freedom Conference Tournament beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Manhattanville Courts. Baruch (10-1, 8-0 CUNYAC) will host SUNY Purchase on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
