PURCHASE, N.Y. –
Sophomore Megan Greene (Jamestown, R.I./North Kingstown) had a pair of goals and Manhattanville boasted a big 29-7 edge in total shots as the Valiants cruised past Eastern Connecticut State, 4-1, in a non-conference field hockey matchup on Wednesday afternoon at GoValiants.com Field.

Greene was one of three Valiants to find the net on the day, with her two scores giving her a team-leading seven goals on the year. Sophomore Amanda DeChent (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) netted the first goal of the game and freshman Zeona Walker-Latney (Boyds, Md./Clarksburg) picked up the first goal of her career as well, while senior Alyssa Coughlan (Rye, N.Y./Rye) also added a pair of assists for the Valiants in the win.

Manhattanville controlled play almost entirely in the first half, ringing up a 15-1 edge in shots and scoring the only two goals of the frame to take a two-goal lead into halftime. DeChent got the scoring started at the 13:51 mark, when she corralled a pass from Coughlan in traffic and chipped the ball into the cage. That was followed at 28:10 by Walker-Latney's first career goal, as she tipped home a shot from senior Colleen Macedo (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) right along the goal line for her first career score.

Greene and the Valiants came out strong to begin the second half as well, as the sophomore needed only 32 seconds before finding the back of the net. Sophomore Chelsea Klein (Reading, Pa./Exeter) made the play with some nice stick handling along the near endline before passing back to the middle of the circle for a wide-open Greene to put the ball away.

Eastern Connecticut got one goal back in the 48th minute thanks to Ali Chapman, but Greene regained the team's three-goal lead with 14:22 to go in the contest after taking a pass from Coughlan.

Sophomore Amy Hilton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kents Hill (Maine)) picked up the win in goal for Manhattanville, making four saves and also getting a defensive save from freshman Carly Brunco (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) to keep the Warriors at bay. ECSU keeper Danielle Reichardt was forced to make 13 saves in a losing effort.

Manhattanville (5-1) will look to carry its momentum into conference play on Saturday, as the Valiants open Freedom Conference action at home against Delaware Valley at 1 p.m. at GoValiants.com Field. The game will be video streamed live on GoValiants.TV starting at 12:55 p.m. Eastern Connecticut (1-5) will visit Framingham State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
