Field Hockey Can’t Stop #9 TCNJ in 6-0 Loss

Manhattanville struggles against #9 TCNJ
Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville field hockey team struggled to create any offensive opportunities on Tuesday night and became the latest victim to #9 College of New Jersey in the team's 6-0 loss.

The Valiants battled throughout the game but couldn't quite figure out the potent offense of the Lions.

Manhattanville was neck and neck with TCNJ in the first half and only faced a 2-0 deficit at halftime, but the stellar play of Lions junior Erin Healy became the difference maker.

Healy scored the first four goals of the game as the Lions maintained any pressure applied by the Valiants. Junior Lindsey Hatch and freshman Lexi Smith also scored for the Lions, improving the team's record to 8-1.

Manhattanville senior goalkeeper Amy Hilton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kents Hill (Maine)) contributed nine saves and gave up four goals in 57 minutes of work before being replaced by freshman Meghan Hughes (Kintnersville, Pa./Palisades) in the second half. Hughes made two saves and gave up one goal against the Lions in 12 minutes.

#9 TCNJ outshot Manhattanville by a total of 21-7.

The Valiants will play its second conference game of the year against Misericordia on Saturday at noon at GoValiants.com Field. The game can be streamed 10 minutes before the start of play on GoValiants.tv.
