Field Hockey Offense Struggles Against St. Lawrence in 3-0 Loss

Manhattanville falls to St. Lawrence 3-0
Box Score GENEVA, N.Y. – The Manhattanville field hockey team failed to score any goals against St. Lawrence and fell to the Saints 3-0 on Sunday afternoon in their second game at the William Smith Classic.

The Valiants were on a four game winning streak before this weekend at the William Smith Classic, but two straight losses against #9 William Smith and St. Lawrence has dropped Manhattanville's record to 5-4 on the season.

The Saints struck first in the match on a goal from sophomore Samantha Haab in the 16th minute after beating Senior goalkeeper Amy Hilton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kents Hill (Maine)) to the right side of the net. Haab's goal was really all St. Lawrence needed to prevail.

The two other St. Lawrence goals were credited to freshman Carly Dziekan in the 32nd minute and senior Emma Barry in the 67th minute.

Manhattanville created opportunities all day against the Saints within the arc and dominated possession in the second half, but couldn't score any goals past St. Lawrence goalkeeper Nicole Matos.

The Saints owned the shot total 11-6 despite Manhattanville having the edge a 12-6 edge in penalty corners.
