Amy Hilton gets her second shutout of the season

Hilton and the Valiants Handle Hartwick in 5-0 Win

Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Manhattanville field hockey team snapped its two game losing streak by shutting out Hartwick College 5-0 on Wednesday night.
 
Senior goalie Amy Hilton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kents Hill (Maine)) was dominant in net for the Valiants by picking up her second shutout of the season and sixth of her career. Hilton made seven saves on 11 shots to help the Valiants defeat Hartwick.
 
After getting shutout by St. Lawrence on Sunday, the Manhattanville offense did not disappoint.
 
Senior Amanda DeChent (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) and sophomore Rylee McGuire (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) each scored a pair of goals; while freshman Bregje Smits (Bussum, Netherlands/Willen de Zwigger College) also found the net in the Valiants win.
 
The Valiants took a 2-0 lead into halftime after goals from DeChent in the 21st minute and McGuire in the 30th minute. Both DeChent and McGuire were just getting started.
 
Manhattanville came out firing in the second half and dominated the shot differential by a total of 9-3. McGuire struck first in the 49th minute for her 11th goal of the season. Two minutes later, DeChent scored her 15th goal of the season.
 
DeChent finished her night with five total points after assisting on Smits' goal in the 60th minute.
 
The Valiants outshot Hartwick by a total of 17-11 in the game.
