Both Rylee McGuire and Kirsten Savage scored two goals for the Valiants against New England College.
Box Score HENNIKER, N.H.- Junior Rylee McGuire (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) and graduate student Kirsten Savage (Harrington Park, N.J./Old Tappan) of the Manhattanville field hockey team both scored two goals each on Saturday afternoon, helping the Valiants take down New England College by a final score of 5-0.

Manhattanville (2-4) outshot New England (0-7) 27-0 before picking up its second win of the season. The Valiants pressed the Pilgrims offensively for the entire game, proving to be too strong all afternoon.

The Valiants scored the first goal of the game when it was junior Toni Moricone (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) collecting a pass from McGuire in the 10th minute of play, burying home a shot for her first collegiate goal.

With Manhattanville up 1-0, the Valiants would never look back. In the 17th minute, the Valiants found the back of the net for the second time as McGuire took a pass from junior Morgan Parsons (Bear, Del./William Penn), blasting a shot past Pilgrims goalkeeper Michaela Clark, giving Manhattanville a two-goal lead. After the goal from McGuire, it only took nine more minutes for the Valiants to strike again as Savage scored her first goal of the game, putting Manhattanville up by three.

Headed into halftime, the Valiants held a comfortable three-goal lead over New England, outshooting the Pilgrims 14-0.  Manhattanville picked up right where they left off in the first half, scoring again in the 42nd minute on a McGuire shot past the stick of Clark. The Valiants added some insurance just two minutes later as Savage found the back of the net for the second time.

In net, freshman Kaitlin Halloran (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown East) saw no shots on goal for Manhattanville while Clark collected 16 saves on 27 shots for New England.

The Valiants will next play in an away game tomorrow against Colby starting at noon.
