DANBURY, Conn. – Coming off of an 11-6 regular season, the Manhattanville College field hockey team learned that its season will continue as the Valiants earned a spot in the eight-team Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships, beginning on Wednesday.
The Valiants will travel to New Jersey on Wednesday when they take on Kean University at 7:30 pm in the opening round of the single-elimination tournament.
Manhattanville declared for the ECAC tournament after falling in the first round of the MAC Freedom playoffs in their first postseason trip since 2011. It is the first time participating in the ECAC tournament since 2004 when the team defeated #15 Montclair State in the opening round before falling to #13 Lebanon Valley in the semifinals.
Kean enters the tournament with a 16-3 record on the year, with their three losses coming to nationally ranked opponents. After beginning the year with 14 consecutive wins, the Cougars fell to #17 Montclair State 3-1 and #7 The College of New Jersey 3-2 in overtime.
