Box Score ASTON, Pa. – The Manhattanville College field hockey team was defeated by Neumann University, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Valiants drop to 3-10 overall on the season and 0-4 in Atlantic East Conference play.
The Valiants would get off to a hot start in the first quarter, having three penalty corner opportunities.
Alyssa Monahan (East Fishkill, NY/John Jay High School),
Megan Keaveney (Clarkstown, N.Y./Clarkstown South), and
Felicity Williams (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) were able to get off four shots total with three being on goal. The Knights would only fire one shot through the first 15 minutes.
In the second quarter, the roles would be reversed. Neumann would have three penalty corner attempts with three shots taken. The Valiants'
Shannon Keena (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) would be able to fire one shot on goal heading into the half, 0-0.
The Knights would keep Manhattanville's offense under lock, holding them without a shot or a penalty corner through the third quarter. Neumann was able to find four penalty corner opportunities and four shots prior to their first goal of the night. Mia Black would score at 38:21, off an assist from Ellie Smith to put the Knights up, 1-0.
In the fourth quarter, Â the Valiants fought back to tie it up, 1-1 as Manhattanville's leading scorer Keaveney would find the back of the net at 49:17. The clock would run down for regulation sending the game into overtime.
The Knights were able to fire off a shot wide at 61:20 before having a penalty corner. They would then have another shot blocked at 61:35 before Cadence Conti would score the game winning goal for Neumann at 62:09.
Cat Morgan (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay Senior) got the start in net and played a full 62:09 for Manhattanville. She would record three saves total while giving up two goals to the Knights. Neumann's Emma Schneider would hold the Valiants offense, making eight saves on the day.
Neumann held a 16-6 advantage in penalty corners.
The Valiants are back in action for Senior Day and their home schedule finale against Immaculata University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
