PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Manhattanville University baseball team returns to action on Wednesday evening as the single-elimination first round of the Skyline Conference Championship begins. The Valiants earned the sixth seed after winning six of their last ten games to close out the regular season.
No. 6 Manhattanville will take on the third-seeded Privateers of Maritime College going head-to-head on the diamond on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. as the No. 4 Farmingdale State Rams and No. 5 Purchase Panthers kick off the tournament earlier in the day.

How We Got Here
The Valiants ended the year with a pair of conference wins over St. Joseph's Brooklyn to secure a postseason appearance, the first playoff berth since 2022. Manhattanville finished 19-19 on the season, going 11-9 in conference play.
The Privateers closed out their regular season with a conference split against Farmingdale and a doubleheader sweep of Yeshiva. They would end the year 26-12, going 14-6 through Skyline play to secure the three seed.
Last Time Out
The Valiants and Privateers met last month in Purchase, N.Y. with a series sweep coming from Maritime.
On the mound, sophomore Ryan McCann (Medford, N.Y./Longwood) continued what has been a phenomenal season as one of the leaders of the Valiant rotation. McCann sported a 5-3 record with three complete game shutouts and has pitched to the tune of a 2.06 ERA.
Out of the pen, Gregory Esposito (Katonah, N.Y./John Jay) has been the most trusted option for the Valiants with a 3.21 ERA through 33.2 innings of work.
At the plate, Michael Musantry (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs batted in and a pair of his own, highlighted by three extra base hits.
The Privateers were led by Anthony Madigan who went 6-for-10 through the doubleheader, recording four runs and three RBI. Logan Martinson contributed going 5-for-10 with a pair of home runs, three runs, and six RBI. On the mound, Matt Demme pitched a full 7.0 complete game only giving up one run on one hit with three walks and four strikeouts. The doubleheader finale showcased six Maritime pitchers through a 10-inning victory.
Looking ahead to Wednesday's game, Maritime will have home field advantage where they have gone 12-5 through the 2024 campaign.
