McCann becomes second player in Manhattanville Baseball history to earn ABCA All-America status

5/29/2026 3:30:00 PM

EASTLAKE, OHIO – Manhattanville University baseball pitcher Ryan McCann (Medford, N.Y./Longwood) was announced as a 2026 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-American on Thursday night, as announced at the opening ceremony of the NCAA Division III College World Series.

McCann was named to the All-America Fourth Team and becomes just the second player in program history to earn All-America honors from the ABCA, joining Dan Fiorito who was named to the ABCA Third Team in 2012.

McCann's All-American selection comes off the heels of his pair of All-Region accolades from earlier this week. The senior was named the ABCA/Rawlings Region III Pitcher of the Year and made the organization's Region III First Team on Tuesday alongside with his selection to the D3baseball.com Region 3 Second Team. McCann became Manhattanville's first-ever pitcher to be recognized as an All-Region Pitcher of the Year.

Already all over the program record book, McCann's 2026 season ranked as one of the best in the history of Manhattanville baseball. His 2.76 ERA was the ninth-lowest by any pitcher to throw at least 30 innings in a season, with his nine wins trailing only Jon Flanagan's program-record 10-win season from 1985. McCann's 17 appearances was tied for the third most in a Valiant season and he became the 11th pitcher to make at least 10 starts in a year. On the mound, he fired 65.1 innings this senior season, the sixth-most in school history, while his five complete games was tied for the sixth-highest total. McCann struck out 53 batters (tied for sixth in school history) while dominating the strike zone, issuing only six walks for a 0.83 walks per nine rate, the second lowest ever by a Valiant.

On a larger scale, McCann's body of work across his four-year tenure ranks amongst the best careers seen by a Valiant arm. He became Manhattanville's all-time leader in wins this season with 19, breaking a record held by Mike Seminara '05 and Alex Basso '14. McCann's 3.52 career ERA is the seventh-lowest amongst all qualified pitchers with a minimum of 75 innings tossed for the Valiants, with his 32 career starts ranking fifth. Across just 36 total appearances, McCann tied the program record for 15 complete games and ranked fourth all-time with 204.1 career innings. He departs Manhattanville as the all-time leader in walks per nine at an unbelievable 1.06 rate for his career, while finishing fourth overall in strikeouts with 147.

McCann is the 52nd overall All-American in Manhattanville University history, the first since softball's Sarah Harker in 2024.
