Baseball Walks Off La Roche, Drops Game Against Dean

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Baseball resumed play at the Ripken Experience with two games, starting the day with a 5-4 walk-off win over La Roche and ending the day with a 7-1 loss against Dean College.

GAME ONE – MANHATTANVILLE 5, LA ROCHE 4
Griffin White (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) walked off the first game of the day in his pinch hit at bat in the bottom of the ninth with a sacrifice fly out to left.
At the plate, Manhattanville was led by Alex Exarchakis (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury), who went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI single. Chris Goohs (Nesconset, N.Y./Smithtown H.S. East) and Marco Clara (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) both contributed an RBI single each.
Three Valiants saw the mound through the nine innings. Jack Lally (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley) started on the pitch, going 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs. Kevin DeMilia (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y./Briarcliff) came in for the sixth inning, only allowing one hit.
Peter Lanausse Jr came in for the final three innings, ultimately earning his first win of the season while giving up two earned runs, three hits, and striking out one.

FOURTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 2, LA ROCHE 0
The Valiants started with an RBI single from Clara to send Scott Ennist Jr across home plate. Exarchakis came up with two on, sending a RBI single out and bringing in Clara.

FIFTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 2, LA ROCHE 2
The Red Hawks scored on an RBI groundout, followed by an RBI single to tie the game at two.

EIGHTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 4, LA ROCHE 2
Goohs regained the lead with an RBI single, sending Moeller home. The second run of the inning was scored by Scott Ennist Jr, taking advantage of the throw to first to round third and score.

NINTH INNING – MANHATTANVILLE 5, LA ROCHE 4
TOP –
La Roche gained momentum early in the ninth with an RBI double to bring the game within one before threatening extras with their second RBI double of the inning.
BOTTOM –
After Aidan Rosario (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) drew a walk to start the inning, Jacob Oakley (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) came in to pinch run. Oakley advanced to second as Anthony Mezzaucella (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) reached first on an error from the third baseman.
Tashik advanced the runners with a bunt single, loading the bases with no outs.
White came to the plate and sent the ball out to left field, scoring Oakley for the walk-off win with his sacrifice fly.

GAME TWO – DEAN 7, MANHATTANVILLE 1
The Valiants' sole run was scored off a sacrifice fly from Marco Clara (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset).
Max Krom (Southington, Conn./Southington) started on the pitch for the Vals, going 4.0 innings, giving up four hits and two earned runs while sending three back in his first loss of the young season.
Jason Gardineer (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) and Daniel Galasso (Tarrytown, N.Y./Sleepy Hollow) went 2.0 innings apiece, both allowing four hits as the Bulldogs extended their lead.

FOURTH INNING – DEAN 2, MANHATTANVILLE 0
Dean grabbed its lead off a two RBI single.

FIFTH INNING – DEAN 3, MANHATTANVILLE 0
Luke Fahey extended the lead with a solo shot.

SEVENTH INNING – DEAN 7, MANHATTANVILLE 0
Three of the four RBIs in the seventh came from doubles, and the final run of the game for the Bulldogs was scored with an RBI single.

EIGHTH INNING – DEAN 7, MANHATTANVILLE 1
The Valiants avoided the shutout with a sacrifice fly out to right from pinch hitter, Clara, scoring Anthony Peterson (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights).
