ST. DAVID'S, Pa. –
Nick Moeltner pitched a four-hit shutout to give Eastern University a 3-0 victory and the three-game Freedom Conference series win over the Valiant baseball team on Sunday afternoon at the Eastern Baseball Field.

Moeltner fanned seven Valiant batters and allowed just four hits. Senior Alex Braverman (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), juniors Dan Fiorito (Yonkers, N.Y./Fordham Prep) and Chris Nardozzi (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham), and sophomore John Bucci (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester) were the only visitors to reach base. Nardozzi also reached base on the only walk issued in the contest.

Senior spot starter Chad Wallace (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) (0-2) pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits, and allowed three hits heading into the fifth inning when the Eagles scored twice.  Joel Rios sent a two-RBI single to centerfield that gave the host all they needed for the victory.

In the seventh, the Eagles scored an insurance run on three hits, as Andre' Butler singled down the right field line.

The Valiant bullpen finished the contest as seniors Joe Donnelly (Patterson, N.Y./Carmel) and Justin Gray (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) combined for five hits in three innings, with Donnelly surrendering a run in the seventh inning.

Manhattanville (11-6, 3-4 Freedom) will head to non-conference Alvernia University for a Freedom/Commonwealth Conference showdown at 3:30 p.m.
