Pitching Is A Problem In Baseball’s Loss To Misericordia

Seven different Manhattanville pitchers saw time on the mound against the Cougars.
Box Score PURCHASE, N.Y.- The Manhattanville baseball team dropped its first Freedom Conference contest of the year to Misericordia on Friday afternoon, losing by a final score of 28-2 at Manhattanville Field.

Manhattanville (6-5, 2-1 Freedom) was unable to obtain consistency on the mound as Misericordia (5-4, 1-0 Freedom) took advantage of the Valiants, stroking 25 hits for 28 runs. The reigning Freedom Conference champion Cougars were dominant at the plate, having eight players finish with at least two hits or more.

Freshman Robbie Lynch (Bronx, N.Y./Fordham Prep) continued to impress, going 2-for-3 with an opposite field homerun and two RBIs. Joining Lynch with positivity at the plate was classmate John Delahanty (Mahopac/N.Y.), who also collected two hits.

Junior Zack Eklund (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) (1-1) made his second start of the season for the Valiants, going two innings on the rubber and giving up eight earned runs. Seven different Manhattanville pitchers, including Eklund, struggled to settle down the potent offense of the Cougars.

Misericordia starting pitcher Ryan Dorosh (2-0) was exceptional for the Cougars, tossing seven strong innings while striking out 12 Manhattanville batters and allowing eight hits.

The Valiants will hope to bounce back tomorrow when they take on Misericordia in a doubleheader starting at noon at Manhattanville Field. Live stats are available via GoValiants.com
