Manhattanville (4-3) was unable to produce at the plate, tallying only three hits while scoring no runs against Johnson & Wales (2-0) on a frigid morning in Myrtle Beach.

Joe Pareres (Bronxville, N.Y./Fordham Prep) made his first start of the season for the Valiants, going 5 1/3 innings, giving up six earned runs in the losing effort. In relief, freshman
Joe Anselmi (North Rockland, N.Y./North Rockland) dealt 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball while sophomore
Kurt Hommen (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) pitched an inning, contributing two strikeouts.

Chris Conklin (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) reached base four times for the Valiants, going 1 for 1 with a triple while walking three times. Manhattanville was unable to bring Conklin home as the Valiants offense could not manufacture any runs.
