NEWARK, N.J. – Competing for the final time ahead of the Skyline Conference Championship, the Manhattanville University cross country teams took to the trails at Branch Brook Park in the NJIT Highlander Invite on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The women's team took 8
th in the Open 5K field while the men's side, the Valiants placed 12
th.
Jennifer Oliveros (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) paced the women's team, placing 28
th out of the field of 109 racers that finished with a time of 22:41.3. Three spots later,
Sam Delgado (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) crossed with a finish of 22:56.8.
Alicia Bibi (Marlborough, Mass./Marlborough) placed 62
nd, finishing in 26:05.3.
Lilly Savnik (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) was the next Valiant to cross the finish line, as the freshman placed 67
th with a time of 26:34.8.
Kristen Mejia (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester) rounded out the Valiant racers with a time of 27:38.4 to place 74
th.
The men's unit was led by
Joey DeMilio (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) who clocked in at 28:12.8 in the 8K to place 38
th out of 152 competitors.
Zach Garrant (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill High School) crossed 44
th overall with a time of 28:34.9.
Daniel Baldessarre (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) and
Courtney Brown (Clarendon, Jamaica/Mount Vernon) placed 74
th and 77
th, respectively, clocking in with times of 30:37.9 and 30:46.4.
Danny Noia (Honolulu, Hawaii/McKinley) went on to finish 122
nd with a split of 33:46.6. The Valiants finished up with
Khalil Williams (Menands, N.Y./Shaker) taking 141
st (37:45.9) and
Aka Udeagha (Rye, N.Y./Rye) placing 144
th (27:50.6).
