CASTILE, N.Y. - The Manhattanville College men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the 2015 season on Saturday at the NCAA Div. III Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by SUNY Geneseo at Letchworth State Park.
The men's team scored for the fourth time in seven appearances at the event, taking 39th place out of 41 complete teams. The women's team did not score at the event.
On the men's side, senior
Austin McGlone (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) paced the Valiants on the 8K course with a time of 28:41.60, which was good enough to place him 183rd overall out of 288 runners. Classmate
Matt Goidell (Centerport, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) followed in 30:13.90 to place 218th, while fellow senior
Peter Rizzo (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland) crossed the line in 21:23.30 to place 246th.
Senior
Malcolm Winter (Cross River, N.Y./John Jay) finished in 32:57.80 and freshman
J.T. Scapperotti (Harrison, N.Y./Harrison) ended the race in 35:29.60 to complete the scoring for Manhattanville, while senior
Evan Winston (North Salem, N.Y./Briarcliff) also crossed the line in 38:49.00 to round out the Valiant men's runners.
Sophomore
Katie DiCola (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) was Manhattanville's top finisher during the 6K women's race, placing 167th out of 266 runners with a time of 25:37.70. She was followed by freshman
Veronika D'Aragona (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) in 28:03.90 (219th place) and sophomore
Lauren Limato (Mount Vernon, N.Y./The Ursuline School) in 30:03.90 (242nd place).
The NCAA meet officially concludes the Valiants' cross country season, as the squad has just over a month to rest up before the start of the indoor track campaign on December 16 at Monmouth.
