John Collins remains the longest-tenured coach in modern Manhattanville athletics history, having led the Valiant swimming and diving programs to unsurpassed levels of national success during his 23 years at the helm of the teams from 1974-96.
Â
Under his guidance, Manhattanville boasted four AIAW national champions on the women’s side and one NCAA champion on the men’s side, while earning nearly 200 All-America honors from the NCAA, AIAW and NSWSCA during his tenure. As a team, he lead the Manhattanville women to seven straight national championship appearances from 1977-83, including AIAW national runner-up finishes in 1978 and 1980.
Â
Collins, who was named the ASCA National Coach of the Year in 1983, also is one of the most successful club coaches in the country and coached multiple Olympians with the U.S. National Team from 1984-2007.
