12934Peggy (Scollins) Worley helped to establish the Manhattanville swimming and diving program as a national power in its early years, racking up the second-most All-American honors in school history in four years from 1976-80.

Scollins made an immediate splash in the pool as a freshman, joining Colleen Driscoll, Lydia Haneman and Debbie Vernes to capture an AIAW National Small College Championship in the 800-yard freestyle relay as part of two All-America honors, seven school records and a Met Championship record in the 50-yard freestyle. She also ended her career with a spectacular senior campaign, when she accumulated seven All-America honors, three NYSAIAW state titles and an amazing six top-five finishes at the AIAW National Championships. The top sprinter on the team, Scollins earned 12 All-American honors from both the AIAW and the NSWSCA, a mark surpassed only by fellow Hall of Famer Judy Felice Shea ’81 HOF ’14.

During her four years in the pool, the program established one of the longest runs of sustained national excellence Manhattanville has ever seen, capturing four straight New York State AIAW Championships and finishing no worse than 10th at the AIAW National Championships, including a pair of national runner-up finishes in 1978 and 1980.
