Manhattanville Athletics Hall of Fame

Mark Ward excelled on multiple surfaces during his time at Manhattanville from 1980-84, starring for four years with the men’s basketball team while also helping to start up the men’s lacrosse team during his senior season.

On the court, Ward graduated as one of the most decorated players in Manhattanville men’s basketball history, currently ranking second in school history with 1,833 points, fourth with a 17.8 points-per-game average and seventh with 769 career rebounds. As a senior in 1983-84, he was named the MBWA All-Met D-III Player of the Year, the D-III New York State Player of the Year and the ECAC Metro NY/NJ D-III Player of the Year after scoring a school-record 607 points (24.3 ppg), a total that ranked eighth in the country among D-III players. Ward was named to nine All-Tournament teams during his career and graduated as the school’s single-game, single-season and career scoring leader.

On the lacrosse field, Ward led the team in its inaugural season with 27 goals and 16 assists for 43 points in 10 games in 1984. He scored six goals with five assists for 11 points in the team’s first-ever win over the City College of New York, a mark that still ranks him sixth on the school single-game points list. His 4.30 points per game average also remains 10th-best in a single season at Manhattanville.
