Nearly 16 years removed from her time as an undergraduate member of the Manhattanville College women’s soccer team, Susan (Horton) Bowen remains the program’s all-time leader in points (174), goals (76) and match-winning goals (22), and is also fourth in assists (22).
Horton began by earning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year as a freshman with a team-leading 26 points before moving on to win the Skyline Player of the Year honor three years in a row during her remaining seasons with the Valiants. She also helped her team secure the Skyline Regular-Season Championship in 1999.
In 2000, Horton produced the best statistical season of her career and, in addition to her Skyline honors, earned NSCAA All-Region Second Team accolades for her efforts. She tied the single-season program record with 24 goals and notched the second-highest point total in a single season with 56. She also scored 10 points in a game three times that season. Overall, Horton owns three of the top four single-season goal and point marks in program history.
In her junior year, Horton’s 20 goals and 44 points propelled the program to its highest-scoring season in both goals (67) and points (174). As a senior, she helped lead the Valiants to the NYSWCAA and ECAC Metro Tournament semifinals while notching 21 goals and 48 points, which both still rank third in program history.
